Sightseeing in Hawaiʻi isn’t complete without a visit to the two symbolic “bookends” of the Pacific War, the USS Arizona whose bombing was the catalyst that propelled the US into WWII, and the USS Missouri on whose decks the Japanese formally surrendered. Pearl Harbor Remembered Tour is led by a guide whose knowledge of and appreciation for these historic sites makes this “memorial” tour an experience to remember.
Stops and drive-by sites on the Pearl Harbor Remembered may include:
•Pearl Harbor Visitor Center – Experience world-class museums, waterfront exhibits, the bookstore and more.
• USS Arizona Memorial-View a 23-minute documentary about December 7, 1941, then take a shuttle boat ride to board the USS Arizona Memorial. Shuttle boat rides to the USS Arizona Memorial may be canceled or modified due to mechanical issues, high winds, or other safety concerns. Reservations are non-refundable.
• Ford Island and the USS Missouri Battleship
• Historic Downtown Honolulu
Explore museums, see actual attack footage, and other park monuments.
Enjoy a guided tour of the battleship Missouri where the Japanese surrendered in WWII.
The tour of the USS Arizona Memorial typically begins with a narrated tour of the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center, which includes exhibits and displays that detail the events of the attack on Pearl Harbor. After the visitor center, the tour proceeds to the USS Arizona Memorial, where admission is provided as part of the tour package.
At the end of the tour, visitors will be guided through downtown Honolulu and discover the rich history of Hawaii.
Time permitting, the group may visit the famous statue of King Kamehameha I, who united the islands under one rule.
You will be awed by the stunning architecture of landmarks such as the Iolani Palace. As the only official royal palace in the United States, this historic landmark offers a poignant glimpse into the final years and overthrow of the Hawaiian monarchy.
Often called the "Westminster Abbey of the Pacific," this historic 1842 church was constructed from giant coral blocks and served as the house of worship for Hawaiian royalty.
This beautiful 1929 Spanish Mission Revival building features a striking Italianate courtyard and serves as the official seat of government for the City and County of Honolulu.
Built in 1926 as a welcoming beacon for passenger ships, this iconic 10-story clock tower stands as a historic landmark and gateway to Honolulu Harbor. The downtown section of the tour allows visitors to immerse themselves in the colorful and intricate history of Hawaii and gain a deeper appreciation of the diverse and fascinating culture of this beautiful island state.
