We know the frustration of juggling tabs, comparing prices, and second-guessing what’s really available. That’s why we created Basecamping.com — a platform built by travelers, for travelers.

Our Mission

We want to simplify outdoor adventure planning by uniting the fragmented worlds of RV rentals, camping, and experiences into one seamless platform. We help travelers discover, compare, and book every part of their journey in just a few clicks.

What We’re Building

We’re creating a platform that makes planning outdoor adventures effortless. Instead of juggling multiple websites, travelers can simply enter their destination and dates once and instantly see everything they need from RV rentals and campsites to activities and unique experiences — all in one place.

Our Founder

For Josh Carlson, adventure has always started with four wheels, a full tank, and a blank map. Over the years, he’s owned camper vans, travel trailers, and Class C RVs — and he’s explored wild places from the salmon rivers of Alaska to the red rock canyons of Utah to the misty forests of the Pacific Northwest with his wife and three kids in tow.

He’s rented out his own rigs on peer-to-peer platforms like Outdoorsy and RVshare and knows firsthand what it’s like to be on both sides of the adventure.

When Josh planned his family’s trips, they always revolved around the things he loves most — fly fishing mountain streams and exploring new singletrack on his bike. But every time, planning was a mess. He’d spend hours jumping between dozens of websites just to figure out where to pick up an RV, which campgrounds had space, and how to fit in the best local experiences.

That frustration planted the seed for Basecamping.com. With over 25 years of experience in digital marketing and building online platforms, Josh decided to solve the problem he kept running into: creating a single place where outdoor travelers can search, compare, and book everything they need to build their perfect adventure.

Basecamping.com is the tool he always wished existed — now built for everyone who dreams of the open road, the wild places, and the thrill of finding their own basecamp.
