Waxahachie Creek Park sits on the western shore of Bardwell Lake in the Blackland Prairie of southwestern Ellis County, a short drive roughly a few miles southwest of Ennis and under an hour from the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex. The campground occupies the upper reaches of the lake near the mouth of Waxahachie Creek, where cottonwood-lined banks and springtime swaths of bluebonnets frame the water.
