Camping at Wurtz Cabin near Hungry Horse

Public campground · Hungry Horse · 1 campsite

A forested campground near fishing, and hiking. Most campsites have no hookups.

About this campground

Wurtz Cabin sits just south of the Canadian border along the North Fork Road beside the North Fork of the Flathead River, a single historic rental in Flathead National Forest that gives a clear sense of early 20th-century homesteading life. Built by Frank and Ella Wurtz beginning in 1913 and lived in by their family into the 1960s, the two-story log structure is listed on the National Register and was restored by volunteers; its rear is backed by a stand of dense conifers while the front opens onto a flat, grassy lawn edged by pines with the snow-capped Livingston Range of Glacier National Park visible on the horizon.
