Recreation in and around the cove is varied and very accessible from the group site: hikers commonly tackle the roughly 5-mile roundtrip trail to Abrams Falls, where a short but powerful 20-foot drop spills into a long, deep pool beneath riparian hemlock and rhododendron. A private stable nearby runs one-hour horseback rides plus seasonal hay and carriage rides from March through October, and the park's cold streams offer trout fishing for those with proper permits.
