Camping at Horseshoe Bend (Dierks Lake)

Public campground · Dierks · 184 campsites

A forested campground near fishing, and hiking.

About this campground

Horseshoe Bend Campground sits along the Saline River just below Dierks Dam, where the river feeds through a three-quarter-mile engineered whitewater course and the terrain rises to a 300-foot vertical cliff that marks the edge of the Ouachitas. The campsite area is compact but well-appointed for river users: there are 13 total sites 12 that accommodate both RVs and tents (Class A) and one tent-only site laid out along the riverfront so most sites have easy water access.

“What a place to relax and enjoy the river flowing by your camp site. Definitely not our first stay here and won’t be our last. Quite and clean. ”

How far ahead to book Horseshoe Bend (Dierks Lake)

For November weekends, book about 60 days ahead. Three in four November Friday and Saturday arrivals were booked later than that, and half were booked 14 days or less before arrival. Past timing is guidance, not a guarantee of what is open now.

Months with fewer than 30 reservations of that kind are left blank. Sites where nearly every booking was made the day of arrival (pay on arrival) are left out. Closed seasons, windows not yet released for booking, and currently unavailable nights are separate from this history.

Based on Recreation.gov reservations, FY2015–2025 (1,001 reservations in the years scored). Counts reservations made, not nights actually camped: cancellations aren't in the data, and nights a site was closed count as not booked. FY2020–21 (COVID) are left out of the scores.
