The lake and river set the recreational agenda: Greers Ferry Lake supports boating, sailing, water skiing, scuba diving and year-round fishing, while the Little Red downstream of the dam is regularly stocked (the nearby Greers Ferry National Fish Hatchery produces trout for restocking and offers free tours). Hikers can follow three National Nature Trails or a multipurpose fitness trail for varied views of the water and surrounding hills, and the William Carl Garner Visitor Center just west of the dam offers exhibits, a children's touch table and a replica of the world-record brown trout caught in the Little Red.
