Spillway Campground sits on the shore of 52-acre Woods Canyon Lake in the Rim Lakes Recreation Area, just northeast of Payson near the small town of Heber. At roughly 7,500 feet the site is shaded by ponderosa pine, oak and Douglas fir, and it offers easy access to lakeside walking, an easy loop trail around the water, and the Rim Lakes Vista Trail less than a mile away for longer hikes and views along the Mogollon Rim.

Length limits vary by campsite.

“A bit crowded, campgrounds are too close to each other, but otherwise beautiful scenery.”
“Spillway is a great campground. The camphosts keep the bathrooms and campsites very clean. Lots of trees and close to the lake. Our favorite place to get away from the city and spend time in nature.”
“Awesome campground, close to the water, each site is spread out so you're not on top of one another. My daughter and I had a great time and we will be back again! ”

Months with fewer than 30 reservations of that kind are left blank. Sites where nearly every booking was made the day of arrival (pay on arrival) are left out. Closed seasons, windows not yet released for booking, and currently unavailable nights are separate from this history.
Based on Recreation.gov reservations, FY2015–2025 (11,564 reservations in the years scored). Counts reservations made, not nights actually camped: cancellations aren't in the data, and nights a site was closed count as not booked. FY2020–21 (COVID) are left out of the scores.
