Camping at Chavez Crossing

Public campground · 3 campsites · 3 group

A forested campground near fishing, hiking, and mountain biking.

About this campground

The setting lends itself to creek-side activities and day trips: wading and fishing in Oak Creek are immediate draws, and photographers and hikers will find Cathedral Rock and Bell Rock only a short drive away. A short trip accesses the Red Rock/Secret Mountain Wilderness and Munds Mountain Wilderness, where maintained trails, swimming holes, old dwellings and Native rock art are part of the landscape you can explore.

“Great location! Perfect for younger kids, while older kids enjoyed fishing and hiking up the creek. The hosts were friendly, and the campsites were well maintained.”

Jeanine A 5 · Jul 2025 · Recreation.gov

“Perfect little spot almost in town but secluded so you feel like you are in the wilderness. Sycamores and cottonwoods provide necessary but excellent shade. Host was super friendly and helpful”
