Camping at Plaskett Creek Campground near Big Sur

Public campground · Big Sur · 37 campsites · 3 group

A forested campground near fishing, hiking, and mountain biking. Most campsites have no hookups, and RV fit varies by site.

About this campground

Plaskett Creek Campground sits on the east side of Highway 1 in west-central California's Los Padres National Forest, a short drive north from Sand Dollar Beach one of the largest sandy stretches in the Big Sur area and roughly 65 miles north of San Luis Obispo along Hwy 1 (note: Highway 1 is temporarily closed from the Monterey area, so check road conditions before you travel). The site offers 40 grassy campsites that accommodate both tents and RVs; each site includes a picnic table and a metal campfire ring with grill, but there are no utility hookups.

“Great except no water in toilets, only portapotties. If it wasn't for that it would be awesome, but I love it here.”

Months with fewer than 30 reservations of that kind are left blank. Sites where nearly every booking was made the day of arrival (pay on arrival) are left out. Closed seasons, windows not yet released for booking, and currently unavailable nights are separate from this history.

Based on Recreation.gov reservations, FY2015–2025 (49,577 reservations in the years scored). Counts reservations made, not nights actually camped: cancellations aren't in the data, and nights a site was closed count as not booked. FY2020–21 (COVID) are left out of the scores.
