Black Rock Equestrian Campground sits on the northern edge of Joshua Tree National Park, about five miles south of Yucca Valley along Joshua Lane, where the park's Mojave and Colorado desert influences meet. At roughly 4,000 feet elevation the site gets a mix of sun and shade beneath one of the park's densest stands of Joshua trees, which throw distinctive silhouettes at dawn and dusk and often bloom with clusters of white flowers in spring.
