Camping at Marshall Park near Creede

Public campground · Creede · 15 campsites

A forested campground near trout fishing, hiking, and mountain biking. Most campsites have no hookups, and RV fit varies by site.

About this campground

The Rio Grande here has a strong reputation for rainbow trout and is treated locally as a trophy river, so anglers will find plenty of wading and boating opportunities right from camp; the campground is also a practical base for hunters and for exploring nearby off-road vehicle trails. If you want to stretch farther, the Lost Trail #821 OHV route is one nearby option for layered mountain views.

“Unlike last year when we visited this year there is a camp host. There was a marked improvement in cleanliness of the campground and especially the bathroom. This is a great little campground and we look forward to returning.”

Lewis P 5 · Sep 2025 · Recreation.gov

“This was our second time to stay here. We loved the host, Melvin Bell. He was very personal and helpful. We ended up staying 3 nights and had a wonderful time. We will definitely be back when we are in Colorado again. Thanks.”

Sandra J 5 · Sep 2025 · Recreation.gov

“Area was very clean and kept up. Host was absolutely great! Sites were large and well spaced. Close to Creede, road noise was very minimal and nonexistent at night. ”

How far ahead to book Marshall Park

For July weekends, book about 172 days ahead. Three in four July Friday and Saturday arrivals were booked later than that, and half were booked 117 days or less before arrival. Past timing is guidance, not a guarantee of what is open now.

Months with fewer than 30 reservations of that kind are left blank. Sites where nearly every booking was made the day of arrival (pay on arrival) are left out. Closed seasons, windows not yet released for booking, and currently unavailable nights are separate from this history.

Based on Recreation.gov reservations, FY2015–2025 (2,247 reservations in the years scored). Counts reservations made, not nights actually camped: cancellations aren't in the data, and nights a site was closed count as not booked. FY2020–21 (COVID) are left out of the scores.
