East Elk Creek Group Campsite sits at about 7,800 feet on the north side of US Highway 50 between Gunnison and Montrose, roughly a half-mile west of Elk Creek. The site fronts the quieter water of East Elk Creek rather than the big reservoir, so groups can spread out for picnics, kayak or canoe launches, or creekside fishing without the boat traffic you find on Blue Mesa.
