Camping at Blue River Campground (Co) near Silverthorne

Public campground · Silverthorne · 22 campsites

A forested campground near trout fishing, hiking, and mountain biking. Most campsites have no hookups, and RV fit varies by site.

About this campground

The broader White River National Forest delivers the activity menu: anglers will find rainbow and brown trout in the Blue River and cutthroat in nearby waters, while the neighboring reservoirs and river corridor open options for boating, kayaking and paddleboarding within a short drive. Trails, forest roads and miles of backcountry support hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, OHV use, hunting, wildlife viewing and winter sports depending on conditions, and interpretive programs and a visitor center are available elsewhere in the forest.

“Tiny Campground in a wonderful spot. No services, but still great.”

Jonathan S 5 · Oct 2025 · Recreation.gov

“Everything was as adversed. Site was by water and all was perfect BUT make sure to check weather! Got to like 45 and we got cold and had to turn on heat. Not a bad thing just a thing. ”

How far ahead to book Blue River Campground (Co)

For July weekends, book about 178 days ahead. Three in four July Friday and Saturday arrivals were booked later than that, and half were booked 156 days or less before arrival. Past timing is guidance, not a guarantee of what is open now.

Months with fewer than 30 reservations of that kind are left blank. Sites where nearly every booking was made the day of arrival (pay on arrival) are left out. Closed seasons, windows not yet released for booking, and currently unavailable nights are separate from this history.

Based on Recreation.gov reservations, FY2015–2025 (4,332 reservations in the years scored). Counts reservations made, not nights actually camped: cancellations aren't in the data, and nights a site was closed count as not booked. FY2020–21 (COVID) are left out of the scores.
