Old Federal Campground sits on the eastern shore of Lake Sidney Lanier in northern Georgia, where the foothills of the Blue Ridge give way to long, forested stretches of shoreline and wide views across the lake's aqua-blue water. The reservoir was formed in 1956 with the completion of Buford Dam on the Chattahoochee River; Lake Lanier now encompasses about 38,000 surface acres and roughly 692 miles of shoreline, with dozens of Corps-operated parks and marinas around the lake.
