Camping at Watsadler near Hartwell

Public campground · Hartwell · 49 campsites

A forested campground. RV fit varies by site.

About this campground

Hartwell Lake's nearly 56,000 acres and 962 miles of shoreline set the scene for a wide range of activities, many of which are reachable from Watsadler: anglers target largemouth bass, bream, crappie, catfish, striped bass and hybrid bass; boaters find coves and stretches suited to canoes, sailboats, motorboats and water skiing; and swimmers can use sand beaches and designated swim areas at parks around the lake. Watsadler is open year-round, but make reservations deliberately cancellations or changes carry a $10 service fee, same-day or next-day cancellations are charged the first night's fee, and no-shows incur a $20 service fee plus the first night.

For June weekends, book about 166 days ahead. Three in four June Friday and Saturday arrivals were booked later than that, and half were booked 85 days or less before arrival. Past timing is guidance, not a guarantee of what is open now.

Months with fewer than 30 reservations of that kind are left blank. Sites where nearly every booking was made the day of arrival (pay on arrival) are left out. Closed seasons, windows not yet released for booking, and currently unavailable nights are separate from this history.

Based on Recreation.gov reservations, FY2015–2025 (29,192 reservations in the years scored). Counts reservations made, not nights actually camped: cancellations aren't in the data, and nights a site was closed count as not booked. FY2020–21 (COVID) are left out of the scores.
