Camping at Coneross Park near Townville

Public campground · Townville · 106 campsites

A forested campground near fishing. RV fit varies by site.

About this campground

Hartwell Lake's nearly 56,000 acres of water and 962 miles of shoreline mean boating, fishing and water sports are primary draws here: anglers chase largemouth bass, bream, crappie, catfish, striped bass and hybrid bass, and the coves and quieter stretches of water suit canoeing, sailing, water-skiing and general boating. The campground is a short drive from Townville and within easy reach of Clemson and Clemson University, where you'll find grocery, gas and restaurants if you need supplies.

“Had a great time at Coneross. The park was clean and everything seamed well maintained. The camp hosts were very helpful and very nice.”

Mark B 5 · Oct 2025 · Recreation.gov

“Great campground and great sites. Spacious and private, staff is very helpful. There is a little "store" right outside the gate selling ice and a few other supplies plus locals sell firewood on the road going into the campground.”

How far ahead to book Coneross Park

For May weekends, book about 120 days ahead. Three in four May Friday and Saturday arrivals were booked later than that, and half were booked 40 days or less before arrival. Past timing is guidance, not a guarantee of what is open now.

Months with fewer than 30 reservations of that kind are left blank. Sites where nearly every booking was made the day of arrival (pay on arrival) are left out. Closed seasons, windows not yet released for booking, and currently unavailable nights are separate from this history.

Based on Recreation.gov reservations, FY2015–2025 (25,035 reservations in the years scored). Counts reservations made, not nights actually camped: cancellations aren't in the data, and nights a site was closed count as not booked. FY2020–21 (COVID) are left out of the scores.
