Outdoor opportunities extend well beyond the campground itself because Sunny Gulch lies within the Sawtooth National Recreation Area and the broader Sawtooth National Forest. Excellent river fishing is literally at your back door expect rainbow trout, Westslope cutthroat trout, occasional hybrid cutbows and bull trout and trailheads are close by: the Alpine Way Trail starts less than a mile away and the Idaho Centennial Trail passes nearby.

Length limits vary by campsite.

“The campground is in a beautiful setting along the Salmon River. It is modest sized so generally quiet. There is some nearby road noise. We enjoyed our stay here and would return.”
“We loved it there so much that we stayed an extra night...the camp host was wonderful and we had a great chat with her!!!”

Months with fewer than 30 reservations of that kind are left blank. Sites where nearly every booking was made the day of arrival (pay on arrival) are left out. Closed seasons, windows not yet released for booking, and currently unavailable nights are separate from this history.
Based on Recreation.gov reservations, FY2015–2025 (4,063 reservations in the years scored). Counts reservations made, not nights actually camped: cancellations aren't in the data, and nights a site was closed count as not booked. FY2020–21 (COVID) are left out of the scores.
