About this campground

Tipsaw Lake Recreation Area sits on the 131-acre lake in the hills of south-central Indiana's Hoosier National Forest, at about 380 feet elevation, and is built around water-based recreation and easy-access trails. The shoreline combines a sand-and-grass swimming beach with playground equipment and a modern, accessible bathhouse that includes washing stations and changing rooms; the beach area itself is fully accessible.

“We loved the weekend in the private group site. Perfect for a group of people camping together. We were able to close the gate and let the kids ride their scooters without worrying about cars coming through. Sites and bathroom were very clean.”

“campsite somewhat difficult to enter with 35 ft fifth wheel. Campground clean and quiet. Friendly host.”

Months with fewer than 30 reservations of that kind are left blank. Sites where nearly every booking was made the day of arrival (pay on arrival) are left out. Closed seasons, windows not yet released for booking, and currently unavailable nights are separate from this history.

Based on Recreation.gov reservations, FY2015–2025 (4,583 reservations in the years scored). Counts reservations made, not nights actually camped: cancellations aren't in the data, and nights a site was closed count as not booked. FY2020–21 (COVID) are left out of the scores.
