Camping at Canal near Grand Rivers

Public campground · Grand Rivers · 113 campsites · 1 group

A forested campground near fishing, and hiking. RV fit varies by site.

About this campground

Recreation at Canal is focused on the water but reaches into the region: anglers target bass and catfish in both lakes during the warm months, and the boat ramp and canal access make boating, water sports and swimming straightforward options from your site. Onshore you can picnic, use the playground, bike scenic roads, or take auto-touring routes along the lakeshore; the broader Barkley Lake area supports hiking, wildlife viewing, environmental education and historic and cultural visits such as Fort Donelson National Military Park and the Land Between the Lakes area on the lake's western shore.

“Very nice campground with great hookup sites, facilities, and grounds. Everything was very clean and maintained. Staff was extremely nice and helpful!”

Bobby O 5 · Oct 2025 · Recreation.gov

“This was our first time at this camp ground. It will not be our last. We were in the Beach look and loved the size of the sites. There were so many deer to see. The campground was so quiet and peaceful.”

Tammy W 5 · Oct 2025 · Recreation.gov

“Love watching the tugs go by with their loads. Quiet as usual and a great spot to downshift from the road.”

Months with fewer than 30 reservations of that kind are left blank. Sites where nearly every booking was made the day of arrival (pay on arrival) are left out. Closed seasons, windows not yet released for booking, and currently unavailable nights are separate from this history.

Based on Recreation.gov reservations, FY2015–2025 (47,567 reservations in the years scored). Counts reservations made, not nights actually camped: cancellations aren't in the data, and nights a site was closed count as not booked. FY2020–21 (COVID) are left out of the scores.
