Camping at Bowman Bridge

Public campground · 13 campsites · 4 group

A forested campground near trout fishing, and hiking. Most campsites have no hookups, and RV fit varies by site.

About this campground

Bowman Bridge Campground sits along the clear water of the Pere Marquette National Scenic River in the northern Lower Peninsula section of the Huron-Manistee National Forests, about five miles west of Baldwin. The camping area is wooded but, because a tornado moved through in 2005, the canopy is more open here than at some neighboring sites you'll still get tree cover and a feeling of being in the forest, but more sun on the ground.

“We have been camping here for years! We have seen different camp host over the years. The host that are there now are awsome! ”

John M 5 · Oct 2025 · Recreation.gov

“Great place for swimming, fishing and hiking. Pere Marquette River for the first 2 activities and the North Country Trail is near by for the the third. There is some road noise but quiets down at night. Pit toilets that are cleaned a couple of times a day. ”

For June weekends, book about 75 days ahead. Three in four June Friday and Saturday arrivals were booked later than that, and half were booked 24 days or less before arrival. Past timing is guidance, not a guarantee of what is open now.

Months with fewer than 30 reservations of that kind are left blank. Sites where nearly every booking was made the day of arrival (pay on arrival) are left out. Closed seasons, windows not yet released for booking, and currently unavailable nights are separate from this history.

Based on Recreation.gov reservations, FY2015–2025 (1,561 reservations in the years scored). Counts reservations made, not nights actually camped: cancellations aren't in the data, and nights a site was closed count as not booked. FY2020–21 (COVID) are left out of the scores.
