Camping at Pete’s Lake Campground near Munising

Public campground · Munising · 47 campsites

A forested campground near fishing, hiking, and mountain biking. Most campsites have no hookups, and RV fit varies by site.

About this campground

Water is the focus here: Pete's Lake has a swimming beach and a fishing pier beside the day-use area, and anglers can expect northern pike, bass, walleye and perch. Small-boat launching and other water sports are popular from the shore, and the nine-mile Bruno's Run Trail passes directly through the campground, winding past several small lakes and offering hiking and mountain-biking in summer and snowshoeing or cross-country skiing in winter.

“Great campsite. Level, access to water. Excellent! you could bring a couple kayaks and a boat and tie up along the shore here. Cell phone service Limited if any. Access to pump water and bathroom. Very close. ”

How far ahead to book Pete’s Lake Campground

For July weekends, book about 142 days ahead. Three in four July Friday and Saturday arrivals were booked later than that, and half were booked 47 days or less before arrival. Past timing is guidance, not a guarantee of what is open now.

Months with fewer than 30 reservations of that kind are left blank. Sites where nearly every booking was made the day of arrival (pay on arrival) are left out. Closed seasons, windows not yet released for booking, and currently unavailable nights are separate from this history.

Based on Recreation.gov reservations, FY2015–2025 (4,664 reservations in the years scored). Counts reservations made, not nights actually camped: cancellations aren't in the data, and nights a site was closed count as not booked. FY2020–21 (COVID) are left out of the scores.
