Perched on a bluff above Arkabutla Dam, the South Abutment Day Use Area gives you a broad view of the Coldwater River as it spills into Arkabutla Lake and the steady sailboats that favor these open waters. The site sits on the top of the hill between the South Abutment Campgrounds and the west side of the dam, so you get the sense of being close to the locks and spillway without being down on the boat ramps.
