Camping at Davis Lake Campground near Ackerman

Public campground · Ackerman · 27 campsites

A forested campground near fishing, hiking, and mountain biking. RV fit varies by site.

About this campground

Beyond the lake, Davis Lake is a convenient hub for a wider range of outdoor pursuits. The Chickasaw OHV Trail, a recently renovated 12-mile motorized route, lies within three miles of the campground (the trailhead sits between Davis Lake and the Natchez Trace Parkway) and accommodates off-road vehicles up to 48 inches wide; it is open April 1 through October 31, so check seasonal restrictions before heading out.

“The campsites away from the water's edge are very shaded. The area is well maintained. The camp host is available for problem solving. during my two days of camping, I saw her several times maintaining the facilities. ”

How far ahead to book Davis Lake Campground

For May weekends, book about 93 days ahead. Three in four May Friday and Saturday arrivals were booked later than that, and half were booked 40 days or less before arrival. Past timing is guidance, not a guarantee of what is open now.

Months with fewer than 30 reservations of that kind are left blank. Sites where nearly every booking was made the day of arrival (pay on arrival) are left out. Closed seasons, windows not yet released for booking, and currently unavailable nights are separate from this history.

Based on Recreation.gov reservations, FY2015–2025 (3,853 reservations in the years scored). Counts reservations made, not nights actually camped: cancellations aren't in the data, and nights a site was closed count as not booked. FY2020–21 (COVID) are left out of the scores.
