Camping at Wade Lake (Mt) near Ennis

Public campground · Ennis · 23 campsites · 2 group

A forested campground near trout fishing, and hiking. Most campsites have no hookups, and RV fit varies by site.

About this campground

The setting makes Wade Lake a practical base for anglers, paddlers and people seeking nearby trails: the lake holds rainbow and brown trout and boats can be rented at nearby Wade Lake Resort, while the world-renowned Madison River lies roughly five miles away for additional fly-fishing options. Trails start at the campground and extend into the Lee Metcalf Wilderness and the surrounding Gravelly Range, where hiking, wildlife viewing, ATV riding and horseback opportunities are common (there are abundant off-road trails in the Gravelly Range, though none run through the immediate campground).

“Beautiful scenery. Campground get very busy during the day but overall nice place. ”

Colin M 4 · Sep 2025 · Recreation.gov

“Even though I put my specs in for our camper, our camper and truck would not fit in the space. We had to rebook another spot and cancel the one we had. What a mess. ”

Months with fewer than 30 reservations of that kind are left blank. Sites where nearly every booking was made the day of arrival (pay on arrival) are left out. Closed seasons, windows not yet released for booking, and currently unavailable nights are separate from this history.

Based on Recreation.gov reservations, FY2015–2025 (5,432 reservations in the years scored). Counts reservations made, not nights actually camped: cancellations aren't in the data, and nights a site was closed count as not booked. FY2020–21 (COVID) are left out of the scores.
