Murray Bay Campground sits along the shore of Hungry Horse Reservoir high in the Rocky Mountains, less than 30 miles from the Continental Divide and about 31 miles southwest of the West Glacier entrance to Glacier National Park. The reservoir itself covers roughly 27,750 acres and is framed by tall mountain peaks and the massive Hungry Horse Dam the reservoir's creation supplies hydroelectric power and flood control, and the dam ranks as the 10th highest in the United States.

Length limits vary by campsite.

“Mr. Smith the Camp host keeps an Excellent campground. Bathroom was PERFECT. Thank you for providing my family with such a wonderful experience!”
“Huckleberries everywhere! It was a nice spot, disregarding the jerks on boats who show up to shoot fireworks. The road needs to be graded, but other than that, a very nice spot.”
“We had a great time there and the camp host was the best. The sites are nice and they have hand pump water. The only thing to be aware of is you’re 22+ miles from the main little town so take everything you need. Cell service isn’t really available. ”

Months with fewer than 30 reservations of that kind are left blank. Sites where nearly every booking was made the day of arrival (pay on arrival) are left out. Closed seasons, windows not yet released for booking, and currently unavailable nights are separate from this history.
Based on Recreation.gov reservations, FY2015–2025 (3,101 reservations in the years scored). Counts reservations made, not nights actually camped: cancellations aren't in the data, and nights a site was closed count as not booked. FY2020–21 (COVID) are left out of the scores.
