Camping at Cascade near Red Lodge

Public campground · Red Lodge · 29 campsites

A forested campground near fishing, hiking, and mountain biking. Most campsites have no hookups, and RV fit varies by site.

About this campground

Cascade Campground sits about 11 miles west of Red Lodge along Forest Road 2071 (paved for most of the route), on the banks of the West Fork of Rock Creek. The footprint of the 2008 Cascade Fire opened up sunlit glades around the loop that now bloom with wildflowers in season, and the creek and nearby Wild Bill Lake focus much of the outdoor activity here anglers fish the West Fork and can launch non-motorized boats on the small lake, which also has an accessible fishing dock.

“We love going to Cascade!! Camp host from Basin site makes several passes thru the campground and is very helpful. Can't wait to go again!!👌👌”

Lonnie H 5 · Oct 2025 · Recreation.gov

“Great campsite. Quiet and remote. Gravel portion was a little washboard, but we're used to rough gravel roads.”

Joseph G 5 · Sep 2025 · Recreation.gov

“It was a great site. Lots of trees in between sites. Big creek. Lots of hiking around. Don't forget to go to the Beartooth pass The only thing bad about it is the gravel road. We give it 5 stars.”

Months with fewer than 30 reservations of that kind are left blank. Sites where nearly every booking was made the day of arrival (pay on arrival) are left out. Closed seasons, windows not yet released for booking, and currently unavailable nights are separate from this history.

Based on Recreation.gov reservations, FY2015–2025 (3,690 reservations in the years scored). Counts reservations made, not nights actually camped: cancellations aren't in the data, and nights a site was closed count as not booked. FY2020–21 (COVID) are left out of the scores.
