Camping at Sugarloaf 2 Campground

Public campground · 20 campsites

A forested campground near trout fishing, hiking, and mountain biking. Most campsites have no hookups, and RV fit varies by site.

About this campground

Recreation radiates outward from the campground: short trails begin at the site and the larger trail network of the White Mountains (including the Appalachian Trail) is within easy driving distance, making hiking and mountain biking obvious draws. The Ammonoosuc River runs nearby, providing spots to wade and fish for brook trout in summer, and the area around Bretton Woods and the Mount Washington Hotel is close by for downhill skiing or sightseeing off the hill.

“It would be great to show pictures of the campsite. Arrived at the campground and found that the entrance to the site we selected was blocked by large boulders. We could not use our truck camper. Had to find another site. Otherwise, the campground was fine.”

Peter T 4 · Oct 2025 · Recreation.gov

“Great campsite! Exactly what I was looking for, out in the mountains, trees, river, trails, campfire, this place has it all! Camp was clean, and everyone was friendly. This was my first solo camping experience and I felt safe and had a wonderful time with my dog!”

Ava M 5 · Oct 2025 · Recreation.gov

“One of the best campgrounds we’ve stayed at. The pit toilets were in pretty bad shape - very smelly, lots of flies - but such a scenic and quiet site we could look past that.”

Months with fewer than 30 reservations of that kind are left blank. Sites where nearly every booking was made the day of arrival (pay on arrival) are left out. Closed seasons, windows not yet released for booking, and currently unavailable nights are separate from this history.

Based on Recreation.gov reservations, FY2015–2025 (5,871 reservations in the years scored). Counts reservations made, not nights actually camped: cancellations aren't in the data, and nights a site was closed count as not booked. FY2020–21 (COVID) are left out of the scores.
