Camping at Russell Pond Campground

Public campground · 64 campsites

A forested campground near fishing, and hiking. Most campsites have no hookups, and RV fit varies by site.

About this campground

Recreation centers on the pond's non-motorized boating and fishing (power boats are not permitted), with a boat ramp, dock and beach provided for canoeing, kayaking and shore fishing. Beyond the campground, the White Mountain National Forest offers extensive opportunities: many miles of hiking and mountain-bike trails are a short drive away, the Kancamagus Scenic Byway is about six miles from the campground for scenic drives and trail access, and the region supports year-round activities from alpine and Nordic skiing to trail riding and wildlife viewing.

“Very noisy !!! We stayed 3 nights. The first night was quiet, the second night the drunks screamed and partied past 1 AM on the far side of the loop, the third night we listened to the local nascar raceway a couple miles away.”

Months with fewer than 30 reservations of that kind are left blank. Sites where nearly every booking was made the day of arrival (pay on arrival) are left out. Closed seasons, windows not yet released for booking, and currently unavailable nights are separate from this history.

Based on Recreation.gov reservations, FY2015–2025 (8,394 reservations in the years scored). Counts reservations made, not nights actually camped: cancellations aren't in the data, and nights a site was closed count as not booked. FY2020–21 (COVID) are left out of the scores.
