Available Nov 13–15 · 2 nights1 site open for every nightA forested campground near trout fishing, hiking, and mountain biking. Most campsites have no hookups, and RV fit varies by site.
Thomas Canyon Campground sits at about 7,200 feet at the mouth of Thomas Canyon in Lamoille Canyon, part of the Ruby Mountains roughly 30 miles south of Elko. The creek that runs through the site, Lamoille Creek, is a well-known local trout stream brook and wild rainbow trout are commonly pursued by fly-fishermen and the Thomas Canyon Trail begins right at the campground, climbing past several waterfalls, through an alpine meadow and up into a glacial cirque.

Length limits vary by campsite.

“We were surprised by the sheer beauty of this area. It would have been nice to have hook-ups but it’s understandable that they don’t since it’s in a remote canyon. The road in was paved. Hope to stay here again.”
“Simple campground in a beautiful place. No bells and whistles offered or needed. Thomas Canyon hike a delight. 5 miles round trip in the Ruby Mountains. ”
“We love this campground. It’s a relaxing place to come to get away, quiet and peaceful. Each time we stayed here it was extremely clean. There are lots of hikes available.”

Months with fewer than 30 reservations of that kind are left blank. Sites where nearly every booking was made the day of arrival (pay on arrival) are left out. Closed seasons, windows not yet released for booking, and currently unavailable nights are separate from this history.
Based on Recreation.gov reservations, FY2015–2025 (8,425 reservations in the years scored). Counts reservations made, not nights actually camped: cancellations aren't in the data, and nights a site was closed count as not booked. FY2020–21 (COVID) are left out of the scores.
