Camping at Canadian near Canton

Public campground · Canton · 130 campsites

A forested campground near fishing. RV fit varies by site.

About this campground

5 miles north of the town of Canton along Highway 58A and a short drive from the dam that crosses the North Canadian River. The campground shares the lake's wide-water opportunities: a gently sloping sandy beach for swimming and sunbathing, broad stretches of open water that are popular for water skiing, tubing and personal watercraft (especially the calmer corridor paralleling the dam), and excellent bank and boat fishing Canton Lake is particularly known for walleye and hosts a multi-day Walleye Rodeo each May.

“This was our third visit to this campground during the week it is amazing but once the weekend comes it is very loud and most campers follow the quiet times but there is a few who do not.”

How far ahead to book Canadian

For May weekends, book about 136 days ahead. Three in four May Friday and Saturday arrivals were booked later than that, and half were booked 55 days or less before arrival. Past timing is guidance, not a guarantee of what is open now.

Months with fewer than 30 reservations of that kind are left blank. Sites where nearly every booking was made the day of arrival (pay on arrival) are left out. Closed seasons, windows not yet released for booking, and currently unavailable nights are separate from this history.

Based on Recreation.gov reservations, FY2015–2025 (18,163 reservations in the years scored). Counts reservations made, not nights actually camped: cancellations aren't in the data, and nights a site was closed count as not booked. FY2020–21 (COVID) are left out of the scores.
