Camping at Wyeth Campground near Hood River

Public campground · Hood River · 13 campsites · 3 group

A forested campground near fishing, hiking, and mountain biking. Most campsites have no hookups, and RV fit varies by site.

About this campground

Recreation at Wyeth ties directly into the Gorge's range of options: the Historic Columbia River Highway bike path runs directly adjacent to the campground for easy road biking or relaxed rides to nearby picnic and waterfall stops, and short hikes lead toward the Mark O. Hatfield Wilderness, creek access, and dispersed camping opportunities.

“Nice little campground with good room between sites. There is road noise from the interstate that is very nearby.”

Casey F 4 · Oct 2025 · Recreation.gov

“No host. Restroom closed. Porta potties clean. People squabbled a bit as no one was honoring reserved sites. It was pretty much first come first serve. Been coming here 10+ years. Will be back. This was just a single bad experience. ”

Daniel A 2 · Oct 2025 · Recreation.gov

“I booked the campground because there was flushing toilets. Unfortunately they were not working and had to use porta potties. This was very disappointing.”

How far ahead to book Wyeth Campground

For July weekends, book about 145 days ahead. Three in four July Friday and Saturday arrivals were booked later than that, and half were booked 86 days or less before arrival. Past timing is guidance, not a guarantee of what is open now.

Months with fewer than 30 reservations of that kind are left blank. Sites where nearly every booking was made the day of arrival (pay on arrival) are left out. Closed seasons, windows not yet released for booking, and currently unavailable nights are separate from this history.

Based on Recreation.gov reservations, FY2015–2025 (4,079 reservations in the years scored). Counts reservations made, not nights actually camped: cancellations aren't in the data, and nights a site was closed count as not booked. FY2020–21 (COVID) are left out of the scores.
