Camping at Whispering Falls Campground

Public campground · 14 campsites

A forested campground near trout fishing, hiking, and mountain biking. Most campsites have no hookups, and RV fit varies by site.

About this campground

Drive into Whispering Falls and the approach road becomes a transition from highway to forest: tall Douglas-fir and mature western red cedar flank the entrance and ferns and rhododendron carpet the understory. The campground sits at roughly 2,000 feet along the North Santiam River in the North Santiam Travel Corridor of the Willamette National Forest, and its 15 campsites all accommodate both tents and RVs.

“Rustic camping in central Oregon. Close to many outdoor activities. We stopped here after going to Blue Pool ( about an hour away)”

Sandra R 4 · Aug 2025 · Recreation.gov

“We had never stayed here but it is now one we will keep on our list of go to’s. It was relatively quiet and sites weren’t on top of each other. Bob the host was very friendly and helpful.”

How far ahead to book Whispering Falls Campground

For July weekends, book about 113 days ahead. Three in four July Friday and Saturday arrivals were booked later than that, and half were booked 56 days or less before arrival. Past timing is guidance, not a guarantee of what is open now.

Months with fewer than 30 reservations of that kind are left blank. Sites where nearly every booking was made the day of arrival (pay on arrival) are left out. Closed seasons, windows not yet released for booking, and currently unavailable nights are separate from this history.

Based on Recreation.gov reservations, FY2015–2025 (2,275 reservations in the years scored). Counts reservations made, not nights actually camped: cancellations aren't in the data, and nights a site was closed count as not booked. FY2020–21 (COVID) are left out of the scores.
