NOTICE up front: the Nestucca Byway is closed east of Elk Bend campground because of a landslide, and Whipup Staging Area (and Nathan's Trail) will be closed from 12/4/23 to 11/1/24 for active forest management call the Tillamook Field Office at (503) 815-1100 for updates. Camping at Elk Bend is primarily a seasonal, self-contained experience: the campground operates mostly May through September (with Alder Glen and Elk Bend remaining open through the weekend after the General Western Oregon Coast 2nd Season for elk), potable water is seasonal and may be turned off in darker months so plan to bring your own drinking and wash water if you visit outside peak summer.
