Camping at Buck Hall Recreation Area near Huger

Public campground · Huger · 19 campsites

A forested campground near trout fishing, hiking, and mountain biking. RV fit varies by site.

About this campground

Fishing and shrimp baiting are the main draws here: anglers target a wide variety of species (bass, flounder, sea trout, snapper, mackerel, swordfish, crab, shrimp, clams and oysters among them), and Bulls Bay and nearby Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge some 65,000 acres of marsh, tidal creeks and beaches are within easy reach for additional coastal exploration. Boating and ocean sailing are supported by the on-site ramp, and a long stretch of the Palmetto Trail starts here, offering mostly unpaved hiking, biking and horseback-riding opportunities (note that a few sections of the trail are restricted to foot traffic only).

Months with fewer than 30 reservations of that kind are left blank. Sites where nearly every booking was made the day of arrival (pay on arrival) are left out. Closed seasons, windows not yet released for booking, and currently unavailable nights are separate from this history.

Based on Recreation.gov reservations, FY2015–2025 (15,661 reservations in the years scored). Counts reservations made, not nights actually camped: cancellations aren't in the data, and nights a site was closed count as not booked. FY2020–21 (COVID) are left out of the scores.
