Camping at Lock a near Ashland City

Public campground · Ashland City · 44 campsites

A forested campground near fishing, and hiking. RV fit varies by site.

About this campground

Recreation at Lock A leans heavily on the lake and riverside landscape: boating, canoeing, swimming and a long fishing season are supported by the warm, temperate climate, and a boat launch on site makes early starts easy. 5-mile rails-to-trails route that crosses Sycamore Creek on a historic abandoned railroad trestle provides scenic hiking and runs through the broader recreation area; horseshoe pits and volleyball courts are also available for quick games.

“It's a beautiful, quiet campground right next to the Cumberland River. The staff was very friendly. We would definitely return.”

Richard B 5 · Oct 2025 · Recreation.gov

“We had a great time and this spot in particular was great for us as tent campers with stairs down to the water.”

Scott P 5 · Oct 2025 · Recreation.gov

“First time visit to Lock-A campground and I will come again. The campground was clean and well maintained. I had a tent site and was surprised to see concrete slabs or maybe just my site (39), but the view far out weighed the slab”

Months with fewer than 30 reservations of that kind are left blank. Sites where nearly every booking was made the day of arrival (pay on arrival) are left out. Closed seasons, windows not yet released for booking, and currently unavailable nights are separate from this history.

Based on Recreation.gov reservations, FY2015–2025 (22,956 reservations in the years scored). Counts reservations made, not nights actually camped: cancellations aren't in the data, and nights a site was closed count as not booked. FY2020–21 (COVID) are left out of the scores.
