Chilhowee Campground sits within the Chilhowee Recreation Area of the Cherokee National Forest on Forest Road 77/Oswald Dome Road, about a seven-mile climb up a narrow, winding mountain road from Highway 64/411. Because GPS often routes visitors via Benton Springs Road an unpaved, hazardous approach for trailers and larger rigs plan your arrival using Forest Service Road 77 and allow extra time and caution for the ascent; inexperienced RV drivers may find the drive and campsite circulation challenging.
