Camping at Promontory near Comanche

Public campground · Comanche · 73 campsites · 4 group

A forested campground near fishing, and hiking. RV fit varies by site.

About this campground

The lake is the main reason many people come here: anglers target abundant bass, shad and crappie, and Proctor Lake is known statewide for its hybrid striped bass fisheries. Beyond fishing and boating, the broader Proctor Lake wildlife area supports hunting for species such as duck, dove and wild hogs, and the mix of shoreline and grasslands makes the area good for birdwatching and wildlife viewing.

“the location was very well taken care of and very clean and they had the forward thinking of having additional facilities for the big crowd for the 4th of July. The attendant was a very nice man and very helpful. ”

Months with fewer than 30 reservations of that kind are left blank. Sites where nearly every booking was made the day of arrival (pay on arrival) are left out. Closed seasons, windows not yet released for booking, and currently unavailable nights are separate from this history.

Based on Recreation.gov reservations, FY2015–2025 (6,574 reservations in the years scored). Counts reservations made, not nights actually camped: cancellations aren't in the data, and nights a site was closed count as not booked. FY2020–21 (COVID) are left out of the scores.
