Lavonia Campground sits on the shore of Lavon Lake, a 21,400-acre reservoir fed by the East Fork of the Trinity River, offering easy access to swimming, boating and shoreline fishing for species such as channel catfish, crappie and striped bass. The campground is close enough to the Dallas metro area to be an accessible weekend option it lies north of Wylie off State Highway 78, with signs guiding you into the small town of Lavon and down to the lake and is also within reach of local attractions like the Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary in McKinney, which features natural history exhibits and its own trails.
