Camping at Yegua Creek near Somerville

Public campground · Somerville · 77 campsites

A forested campground near fishing, and hiking. RV fit varies by site.

About this campground

Yegua Creek sits along the shoreline of Somerville Lake, offering a low, lakeside landscape where pelicans and other waterfowl are a common sight and the main draw is water access. The campground is part of the larger Somerville Lake recreation area, so boating, water sports and fishing white and hybrid-striped bass, crappie, catfish and the occasional largemouth bass over 10 pounds are easy to arrange from the two on-site boat ramps; remember that lake facilities are intended for registered campers.

“Loved the views but stickers were out of control”

Laura R 4 · Oct 2025 · Recreation.gov

“Beautiful sites, well maintained facilities, and very friendly people. Thank you!”

Cooper J 5 · Oct 2025 · Recreation.gov

“They have some great view sites of the lake and if you have a lifetime seniors pass you pay half price. Either way it's a great place to stay and very affordable. The people there are very friendly too. ”

Months with fewer than 30 reservations of that kind are left blank. Sites where nearly every booking was made the day of arrival (pay on arrival) are left out. Closed seasons, windows not yet released for booking, and currently unavailable nights are separate from this history.

Based on Recreation.gov reservations, FY2015–2025 (34,038 reservations in the years scored). Counts reservations made, not nights actually camped: cancellations aren't in the data, and nights a site was closed count as not booked. FY2020–21 (COVID) are left out of the scores.
