Available Nov 13–15 · 2 nights2 sites open for every nightA forested campground near fishing, hiking, and mountain biking. Most campsites have no hookups, and RV fit varies by site.
Buckboard Campground sits at about 8,900 feet at the foot of the Abajo Mountains, roughly six miles west of Monticello on paved Forest Road 105. The site is shaded by aspens and Gambel oak, with summer days typically in the mid-70s to mid-80s and nights dropping into the 50s and 60s; mule deer, wild turkeys and the occasional black bear move through the trees.

Length limits vary by campsite.

“Excellent location walkable to Monicello Lake. Sites are spacious and well kept and vault toilets were very clean. Aspens surround every site. Highly recommend!”
“Magical campground! Great location for visiting Canyonlands National Park Needles District.”
“Wonderful tent site at the far end of the campground. The main loop was full with a very large extended group/family but I had the small loop all to myself. Warning that there are only two pit toilets for the campground and both are a hike from this site.”

Months with fewer than 30 reservations of that kind are left blank. Sites where nearly every booking was made the day of arrival (pay on arrival) are left out. Closed seasons, windows not yet released for booking, and currently unavailable nights are separate from this history.
Based on Recreation.gov reservations, FY2015–2025 (2,325 reservations in the years scored). Counts reservations made, not nights actually camped: cancellations aren't in the data, and nights a site was closed count as not booked. FY2020–21 (COVID) are left out of the scores.
