On the northern arm of Lake Roosevelt, Kettle Falls Locust Grove Group Site occupies two roomy group pads shaded by locust trees and sitting just above the lake where the old Kettle Falls now lie submerged beneath the reservoir. Lake Roosevelt is the 130-mile impoundment on the Columbia created by Grand Coulee Dam, fed by glacier and snowmelt from the Canadian Rockies and warming in summer; the shoreline here is cut into ancient scoured basalt carved by Ice Age floods.
