Camping at Day Lake near Hayward

Public campground · Hayward · 37 campsites · 1 group

A forested campground near fishing, hiking, and mountain biking. Most campsites have no hookups, and RV fit varies by site.

About this campground

Day Lake Campground sits in northwestern Wisconsin, roughly a mile north of Clam Lake on Highway GG and within easy reach of Lake Superior's southern shore. The campground fronts on Day Lake, a 640-acre body of water where anglers chase musky, bass and panfish and paddlers find quiet coves for canoeing and kayaking; a public boat ramp, picnic area and swimming beach are located about two miles south on County Highway M.

The camping sites were large and flat. Easy to pull our trailer in. The campground was quiet. While there we road our UTV for 2 days. We found some nice trails. I would suggest a map of the forest roads would be very helpful when running around. We would stay at Day Lake again.

Pretty lake. Nice quiet place to camp. Unless neighbor runs generator all weekend. Mosquitos were bad at dusk and dawn. Would have been nice to have a little info about other things in area on the bulletin boards. Great camp host even though her dog never stopped barking. Would definitely put on list of places to return(after I get to all the places I want to check out).

Love Day Lake!! You are secluded enough that other campers are barely ever noticed. It is usually so peaceful (as long as there aren't too many ATV's in the campground). The paths around the lake are beautiful for walking. The beach could have used a little maintenance, but it was still ok.

Months with fewer than 30 reservations of that kind are left blank. Sites where nearly every booking was made the day of arrival (pay on arrival) are left out. Closed seasons, windows not yet released for booking, and currently unavailable nights are separate from this history.

Based on Recreation.gov reservations, FY2015–2025 (2,075 reservations in the years scored). Counts reservations made, not nights actually camped: cancellations aren't in the data, and nights a site was closed count as not booked. FY2020–21 (COVID) are left out of the scores.
