Camping at Pipi Campground

Public campground · 50 campsites

A forested campground near trout fishing. Most campsites have no hookups, and RV fit varies by site.

About this campground

The Cosumnes River is the campground's main draw: rainbow trout are regularly stocked and the paved river walkway includes wheelchair-accessible fishing spots, while shallow stretches invite swimming on warmer days. Pipi is reachable from Highway 88 about 26 miles east of Jackson, then a short drive north into the forest near Omo Ranch it feels removed from busy highways but is still an accessible stop for Sierra travelers.

“Beautiful & peaceful with tall tall trees.”

jen o 5 · Oct 2025 · Recreation.gov

“Good: Sites are nice. There is a lot of variety and the campground seems relatively well spread out. The river was cold but refreshing and beautiful. Bad: we heard gunshots very close by on multiple occasions which was unnerving. ”

Emily S 3 · Sep 2025 · Recreation.gov

“There are no hiking trails from this campground. Host does not enforce leash requirement for dogs.”

Months with fewer than 30 reservations of that kind are left blank. Sites where nearly every booking was made the day of arrival (pay on arrival) are left out. Closed seasons, windows not yet released for booking, and currently unavailable nights are separate from this history.

Based on Recreation.gov reservations, FY2015–2025 (8,735 reservations in the years scored). Counts reservations made, not nights actually camped: cancellations aren't in the data, and nights a site was closed count as not booked. FY2020–21 (COVID) are left out of the scores.
