Camping at Trimmer Campground near Piedra

Public campground · Piedra · 10 campsites

A forested campground near trout fishing, hiking, and mountain biking. Most campsites have no hookups, and RV fit varies by site.

About this campground

The lake itself stretches about 20 miles with roughly 67 miles of shoreline and offers a wide variety of water-based recreation boating, water sports, swimming and good fishing for both wild and planted trout, plus largemouth and smallmouth bass, bluegill and crappie. From the campground you can also access trails and hunting opportunities in the surrounding oak-and-pine foothills at the western edge of the Sierra Nevada; wildlife sightings commonly include red-tailed hawks and the occasional bobcat.

“Generally a nice campsite. Very isolated. Unfortunately, the app didn't tell us when booking that the restrooms were out of service, but it was fine for one night. We were traveling with a 21-foot RV.”

Months with fewer than 30 reservations of that kind are left blank. Sites where nearly every booking was made the day of arrival (pay on arrival) are left out. Closed seasons, windows not yet released for booking, and currently unavailable nights are separate from this history.

Based on Recreation.gov reservations, FY2015–2025 (4,635 reservations in the years scored). Counts reservations made, not nights actually camped: cancellations aren't in the data, and nights a site was closed count as not booked. FY2020–21 (COVID) are left out of the scores.
