Camping at Silver Creek-Truckee

Public campground · Truckee · 26 campsites

A forested campground near trout fishing, hiking, and mountain biking. Most campsites have no hookups, and RV fit varies by site.

About this campground

The Truckee River here is a draw for anglers fly-fishing for rainbow trout is common and the river also sees swimmers and people floating on tubes in summer months. For day trips and longer outings, the campground is a convenient base for a wide range of activities across Tahoe National Forest: hiking and mountain biking on nearby routes (including connections to the Western States Trail, Five Lakes Trail and the Pacific Crest Trail), boating and fishing at nearby reservoirs (Prosser, Boca and Stampede) and Lake Tahoe, and access to Olympic Valley.

“Was a bounty of peace, tranquility and super galactic omnipresent oneness achieved. Camp Host was engagingly friendly. Love him! All fellow campers really do not care what you're doing. The bears are friendly too... I assisted one crossing the road... ”

Emily D 5 · Oct 2025 · Recreation.gov

“We really liked this campground. Our solute wasn't too close to the highway so it was pretty quiet. Nice pull thru space. Nice host on site. ”

Monica S 5 · Oct 2025 · Recreation.gov

“Great campground next to the river! Nights can be a bit chilly, and note the noise from the highway.”

Months with fewer than 30 reservations of that kind are left blank. Sites where nearly every booking was made the day of arrival (pay on arrival) are left out. Closed seasons, windows not yet released for booking, and currently unavailable nights are separate from this history.

Based on Recreation.gov reservations, FY2015–2025 (8,905 reservations in the years scored). Counts reservations made, not nights actually camped: cancellations aren't in the data, and nights a site was closed count as not booked. FY2020–21 (COVID) are left out of the scores.
