About this campground

Oologah Lake itself covers nearly 30,000 acres on the Verdigris River and offers a broad menu of waterside recreation boat ramps and docks are scattered around the shoreline, including at Hawthorn Bluff, and the prevailing winds make the lake a regional destination for sailing as well as water skiing and swimming. “Hawthorne Bluff is a great place to camp. It’s close to home, relaxing, and good lake for fishing. The only thing I feel could improve the campground is to have more water hookups.”

Patti H 5 · Oct 2025 · Recreation.gov

“Beautiful park and lake. Went during the week so it wasn’t busy. Super dark at night (no lights) so be prepared. ”

Months with fewer than 30 reservations of that kind are left blank. Sites where nearly every booking was made the day of arrival (pay on arrival) are left out. Closed seasons, windows not yet released for booking, and currently unavailable nights are separate from this history.

Based on Recreation.gov reservations, FY2015–2025 (25,716 reservations in the years scored). Counts reservations made, not nights actually camped: cancellations aren't in the data, and nights a site was closed count as not booked. FY2020–21 (COVID) are left out of the scores.
