Camping at Live Oak Ridge near Belton

Public campground · Belton · 47 campsites

A forested campground near fishing, and hiking. RV fit varies by site.

About this campground

Recreation at Live Oak Ridge ties directly into Belton Lake's 12,300 acres and 136 miles of shoreline: there's a two-lane boat ramp for launching, good fishing and water-sports opportunities, and hiking access to Miller Springs Nature Area below Belton Dam, where a Leon River trail, a restored historic bridge and several wildlife-viewing points await. Birders commonly see hawks, great blue herons, ducks, geese, numerous songbirds, bobwhite quail, Rio Grande turkey and the occasional bald eagle; the spillway wall of Belton Dam bears a mural that depicts Bell County history, and Fort Hood lies adjacent with several points of interest for military history enthusiasts.

“We love staying at Live Oak. It is conveniently near town but still the lake campsite atmosphere. The campsites are always ready for us when we pull in.... nice and cleaned. Bathrooms are always clean. Nice walk to the lake. ”

Jimmy O 5 · Oct 2025 · Recreation.gov

“Lovely campground. Nice trees. Good spacing between sites.”

Months with fewer than 30 reservations of that kind are left blank. Sites where nearly every booking was made the day of arrival (pay on arrival) are left out. Closed seasons, windows not yet released for booking, and currently unavailable nights are separate from this history.

Based on Recreation.gov reservations, FY2015–2025 (31,317 reservations in the years scored). Counts reservations made, not nights actually camped: cancellations aren't in the data, and nights a site was closed count as not booked. FY2020–21 (COVID) are left out of the scores.
