Camping at Jim Hogg Park near Georgetown

Public campground · Georgetown · 143 campsites

A forested campground near fishing, hiking, and mountain biking. RV fit varies by site.

About this campground

Jim Hogg Park sits on the north shore of Georgetown Lake in the central Texas Hill Country, roughly 25 miles north of Austin and within easy reach of Georgetown's services. The lake itself is a reservoir on the north fork of the San Gabriel River; the dam completed in 1979 holds back the river and creates a broad, low-elevation waterbody framed by juniper and hardwood bottoms.

“This is a beautiful lake. Surprised that there aren’t more campers. ”

Marlene L 5 · Oct 2025 · Recreation.gov

“This is a lovely campground close to Austin. We enjoyed staying right on the lake. We appreciated the nice covered picnic areas each site has. The whole campground was quiet and clean. Big rig friendly!”

Angela H 5 · Oct 2025 · Recreation.gov

“Awesome park with good amenities. The campsites have just enough space to really enjoy the experience. ”

Months with fewer than 30 reservations of that kind are left blank. Sites where nearly every booking was made the day of arrival (pay on arrival) are left out. Closed seasons, windows not yet released for booking, and currently unavailable nights are separate from this history.

Based on Recreation.gov reservations, FY2015–2025 (73,157 reservations in the years scored). Counts reservations made, not nights actually camped: cancellations aren't in the data, and nights a site was closed count as not booked. FY2020–21 (COVID) are left out of the scores.
