Recreation at Deer Run is dominated by the reservoir and the marina next door Flaming Gorge is known for excellent lake, brown and rainbow trout fishing and for motorized water sports such as boating, water skiing and jet skiing, as well as non-motorized paddling, swimming and scuba diving. The easy Bear Canyon Trail, a 3-mile round trip for hikers and mountain bikers, begins nearby and leads to views of Red Canyon and Flaming Gorge, while guided tours of Flaming Gorge Dam and exhibits at the visitor center add historical and interpretive options.

“Showers were so clean. The host was so kind. We have always loved this campground, but this visit really was one of the best. Thank you!!”

Months with fewer than 30 reservations of that kind are left blank. Sites where nearly every booking was made the day of arrival (pay on arrival) are left out. Closed seasons, windows not yet released for booking, and currently unavailable nights are separate from this history.
Based on Recreation.gov reservations, FY2015–2025 (3,165 reservations in the years scored). Counts reservations made, not nights actually camped: cancellations aren't in the data, and nights a site was closed count as not booked. FY2020–21 (COVID) are left out of the scores.
